Rivtow Marine is on the lookout for a proactive and passionate QHSE Superintendent to join our high-performing team in Port Hedland based in Port Hedland, WA.
Location: Port Hedland
For the right candidate, mixed working arrangements from Perth could be considered. These arrangements would balance field activities and administration tasks with operations and unplanned task-taking priorities.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing operations and supporting a large fleet of escort and harbour tugs at the world’s busiest export port.
Key Responsibilities
- Create the safest towage operation in Australia
- Foster strong, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders.
- Lead and continually develop Rivtow Marine’s QHSE Field Leadership Program.
- Manage the QHSE KPI Program for Rivtow and contractor groups.
- Lead and improve the Risk Management process in the business.
- Champion and build upon an established safety culture.
- Coach, mentor and train staff and vessel contractors in the effective use of the QHSE Management System (QHSEMS) and behavioural safety principles.
- Lead and support the incident investigation and reporting requirements of the business. Lead and coach Rivtow Marine staff and contractor groups as and when required in incident and root-cause analysis.
- Support the ongoing development, improvement and implementation of QHSE processes and procedures.
- Audit, monitor, and report on QHSE performance.
About You
- A level of energy that will lead our teams to embrace safe practices and develop CI in he safety management system.
- A Diploma-level or higher qualification in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).
- Minimum 8+ years of QHSE experience across marine, mining, oil and gas, or heavy industry sectors, with a strong background supporting large-scale operations.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Root Cause Analysis qualifications (e.g., TapRoot, ICAM).
- Expertise in Behavioural Safety Programs that influence culture and reduce risk.
- Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Ability to obtain a Marine Security Identification Card (MSIC).
- ISM / ISO / HSE Lead Auditor qualifications (highly desirable – or able to obtain).
- Additional studies in Leadership and Management will be viewed favourably.
