A dedicated family man who has created and maintained gardens, built irrigation systems, attended swimming pool maintenance, has served the family and Company in a very trustworthy manner.... his children have created gardens on public footpaths. You are responsible for the company’s brand image ensuring that the properties are immaculately presented everyday as peoples first impressions are important.
About the role Qualified horticulturist required as full-time employee to maintain seven established private & corporate gardens within the inner city suburbs in Brisbane. The gardens are spread over 7 separate properties under one ownership. Must have horticultural qualifications and experience. Must be knowledgeable regarding plant diseases and fertilisation. Lawn maintenance, hedging, pruning and general garden maintenance involved. Experience with maintenance of fountain, ponds, irrigation system and swimming pools a distinct advantage. All equipment supplied by employer. Full-time position to work for private owners.

Duties
• From planning to building of gardens
• Designing and installing Irrigation systems
• Nurturing the Rose Garden where 80-year-old roses bloom
• Tending thriving gardens, and manicured lawns
Responsibilities • Grounds maintenance including pruning, hedging, fertilising, minor building maintenance, Irrigation system maintenance and repair, landscaping, cleaning, turf laying, planting trees, shrubs, and annuals, General landscape construction • General property cleaning, pest disease & control & maintenance. • Pool Maintenance, testing and cleaning. • Operating and maintaining various machines safely, including mowers (both ride on and push mowing required), whipper snippers, tractors and other vehicles and equipment. hand tools; backpack blowers, hedgers, brush cutters • Other general duties as required • Keep all work areas and equipment clean and tidy. • Identifying and reporting hazards and safety issues • Attend to all required paperwork.
The flowers from our gardens are appreciated daily in our offices by the Staff.
We will respect your knowledge of plant suitability. Your role will be unsupervised. We expect the successful candidate to be a responsible, mature, proactive and must be strong and willing to work hard.
You will have a close association with the Company Chairman. He takes an active interest in this role.
Skills and experience
What we’re looking for from you:
• Qualified Horticulturist
• 10+ years’ experience in a similar role would be highly regarded
• Hold a White Card & Drivers Licence
• Competent in the use of industry tools and equipment
• Be passionate about working outdoors and willing to work in all weather conditions
• Enjoy working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
• Proactive with a can-do-attitude
• Able to work unsupervised
• Strong commitment to safe work practices -Understanding of QHSE
• Reliable, punctual and hard working
• Well presented with good communication skills
• Have a respectful and thoughtful manner
• Have strong attention to detail
• Be willing to work overtime for operations or events as required.
